The ATKV's big Hartenbos resort sits right on the beach between Mossel Bay and the sea, and it genuinely feels less like a campsite than a small town — a resort you can walk around, with a beachfront shopping centre, a museum, an ATM and a kiosk on the premises. Camping is spread over four blocks (C, D, E and F), each stand 100 m², sleeping up to six, on shared ablutions and self-catering; blocks C, D and E have sea-view stands that cost a little more. Alongside the camping there's a whole range of self-catering housing, from two-sleeper rondawels to eight-sleeper riveredge houses. For families the draw is the outdoor pool, the adventure mini-golf, the fun park, the padel court, the playground and the walking trail — and the beach at the bottom of the resort. The heated indoor pool is closed for a roof rebuild, expected to reopen later in 2026.
